Pro tip: Check your sprinklers and your landscaping.
I just had a listing with mold in the living room caused by years of water hitting the stucco. On top of that, the weep screed was buried under dirt and mulch, so it stayed damp and couldn’t do its job.
If you don’t know what a weep screed is, it’s that small metal strip at the base of your stucco. It’s designed to let moisture drain out of your walls. But it only works if it’s exposed and clear.
Simple fix: aim sprinklers away from the house and keep landscaping from covering the base of your walls. Small steps like this can save you a lot of money and even more headaches down the line.
